The survey was created by the 2025 Spring COMD210 class, with assistance from Travis Brodbeck, guest speaker Daniel J. Pelkey, and the Siena College Research Institute.
The students of Community Research and Consulting partnered with the Siena College Research Institute to collect data via phone survey on how New Yorkers view K-12 issues. This Siena College Poll was conducted April 10 – 22, 2025, among 801 New York State residents.
“COMD210 is a hands-on introduction to the world of research—a proving ground for future investigators and analysts. Whether students are encountering research methods for the first time or building on prior experience, they engage directly with both qualitative and quantitative approaches. Throughout the course, students explore real-world issues, consult with stakeholders, design and test survey instruments, analyze collected data, and communicate their findings. The result is not just academic skill-building, but meaningful insight into challenges facing our community—giving students the opportunity to do research that matters.”
