Siena College Research Institute & Rockefeller Institute of Government Announce Collaborative Effort to Monitor New Yorkers’ Views on Potential 2017 Constitutional Convention
Other Partners Include the Government Law Center at Albany Law School and the League of Women Voters of New York State

The Siena College Research Institute (SRI) and the Nelson A. Rockefeller Institute of Government today announced that they will be partnering over the next two years to measure New Yorkers’ awareness of the upcoming vote in 2017 for a New York State Constitutional Convention. In addition to SRI and the Rockefeller Institute, other partners will include the Government Law Center at Albany Law School and the League of Women Voters of New York State.

“We are pleased to be working with the Rockefeller Institute of Government to track New York voters’ views on the potential 2017 State Constitutional Convention,” said Dr. Don Levy, Director of the Siena Research Institute. “How aware are voters currently of the vote in 2017 on whether or not a Constitutional Convention should be held? Would they vote yes or no? How will their attitude on these questions change over the next two years? As New York’s premier public polling and research institute we will be monitoring New Yorkers’ views on these and other questions. Combining the resources of SRI, Rockefeller and our other partners will provide the public and the media with real, current data on this important public policy issue moving forward.

“A Siena College Poll to be released later this week will provide a first look at New Yorkers’ knowledge of and support for a 2017 Constitutional Convention vote,” Levy said.

“The Rockefeller Institute of Government – along with our partners – will be leading the charge to educate New Yorkers about the upcoming Constitutional Convention vote and the importance of that vote on the future of our state,” said Robert Bullock, Deputy Director for Operations of the Nelson A. Rockefeller Institute of Government. “We know that with the Siena Research Institute as one of our partners we will be able to provide reliable data about New Yorkers’ votes on the ConCon and how those views evolve as we move closer to the election.

“This is just one part of our educational campaign over the next two years in conjunction with SRI, Albany Law School’s Government Law Center, the New York State League of Women Voters, and others. We look forward to sharing more information on the many program offerings of this campaign in the months and years ahead,” Bullock said.
